In May 2025, at the British National Day during the Osaka-Kansai Expo, Lisa Nandy, British Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, announced the “MUSUBI Initiative.” With the aim of nurturing and connecting the next generation of leaders in both Japan and UK, the initiative will develop programmes to create sustainable connections and opportunities between the two countries in various fields, including sports, cultural exchange, and business. The Society will co-host a lecture and reception with the British Embassy related to this MUSUBI Initiative, inviting Mr Tadayoshi Tazaki (Chairman, JAC Recruitment/ JBS member and 2022 JBS Award recipient). He runs Tazaki Foundation that provides scholarships to high school students, from British public schools to universities, in order to encourage young people in Japan to take part in his own experience studying in the UK. He will discuss on providing educational opportunities for young people for further strengthening the ties between Japan and the UK. Participants will enjoy a reception after the lecture.
