The relationship between Japanese and British ceramics dates back to 1920, when Bernard Leach built a Japanese-style three-room climbing kiln together with Shoji Hamada, and the relationship between the Leach studio and Mashiko town continues to this day. Mashiko Museum of Ceramic Art, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, has held many exhibitions introducing British ceramic works from various perspectives. In this exhibition, Mashiko Museum of Ceramic Art focuses on London which forms a core of its collection of British ceramics, and introduce the works under the new name “London School”.
