Botanical art, which began with the classification and documentation of edible and medicinal plants, eventually came to be appreciated as “portraits of flowers.” During the 19th- century boom of botanical art in Britain, floral motifs also became popular in the design of decorative arts. An exhibition of Botanical Art and Design will be held at Fuchu Art Museum.
