Peter Doig (1959- ) is a celebrated contemporary artist who was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1994. Doig produces paintings that combine diverse imagery from the compositions and motifs of works by modern painters such as Gaugin, Van Gogh, Matisse and Munch, to scenes from films, advertising graphics, and the landscapes of places he has lived, such as Canada and Trinidad. An exhibition of his works will be held in Tokyo for the first time in February to June 2020.
