Gakushūin traces its origins to the Kazoku School established in 1877 (Meiji 10) by the Kazoku Kaikan, the predecessor of Kasumi Kaikan. At the Kasumi Kaikan Memorial Gakushūin Museum, which opened this spring, the exhibition “Empress Teimei and Peers” is being held, organized by Kasumi Kaikan. Visitors can enjoy a variety of displays focusing on the cultural activities of Empress Teimei, the consort of Emperor Taishō.
