Since the Meiji period, works of art have been presented to the imperial family on occasions such as auspicious events and royal visits. In addition, works of art were sometimes presented in the hope that they would be preserved for a long time. Many of such items have high artistic value. At this exhibition, a number of masterpieces representing the museum, with a focus on donated items such as national treasure Eitoku Kano’s screen will be exhibited.
