In two years, 300 years will have passed since Jonathan Swift’s “Gulliver’s Travels” was published in London. Swift wrote with humour and social criticism, and skilful prose. In the first half of the lecture, Mr. Motoyuki Shibata introduces and reads out other works by Swift, and guides you into the fantastical world of Gulliver. And in the second half, Mr. Noriyuki Harada explores the mystery and charm of Gulliver’s Travels, including the influence of numerous exploration voyages written during the Age of Exploration.
