National Theatre opened in 1966 and has played an important role as the home of Japanese traditional performing arts. In autumn this year National Theatre will be closed for renovation and various performances of note are being staged. In February the famous Bunraku works of the Chikamatsu Collection will be performed and there will be a special discount for non-Japanese. (Please note that discounts are available for evening performances only from 8th until 21st February.)
