This is a documentary film about the school life of first- and sixth-graders attending a public elementary school in Japan. Director Ema Ryan Yamazaki, who has a British father and a Japanese mother, conducted a 150-day interview. While recording the state of the Japanese education “TOKKATSU (special activity)” in which the children themselves clean and serve school lunches, the film shows how Japanese children acquire coordination in group life by taking on various roles. It is showing at Cineswitch Ginza and other venues from 13th December. https://shogakko-film.com/
