What if the creation of the masterpiece “Romeo and Juliet” was greatly influenced by a passionate love experienced by the young Shakespeare? This work, creatively blending historical facts with such “what if” scenarios, was first staged in the West End in 2014, based on the film of the same name which won seven Academy Awards. At the Shiki Theatre Company, it premiered with a Japanese cast in 2018 in an original production directed by Go Aoki, celebrating the company’s 65th anniversary. https://www.shiki.jp/applause/shakespeare/
