This is part of Midori Komachi’s ‘Vaughan Williams Project’ taking place in the UK and Japan in 2022. The recital in Tokyo marks the 150th Anniversary of the composer’s birth, and will see the launch of the publication of a new book: Vaughan Williams (by Simon Heffer, Japanese translation by Midori Komachi & Nobuya Takahashi, Artes Publishing). This will be the first Japanese biography of Vaughan Williams to be published in Japan. From the popular pieces The Lark Ascending and Fantasia on Greensleeves to the rare Violin Sonata (this will be the Japanese Premiere of this piece), this concert encapsulates the full range of musical styles of this great composer, who established the style of ‘English Music’ in the early 20th century.
Programme: Fantasia on Greensleeves (arr. Mullinar), Songs of Travel: ‘Wither must I wander?’ etc.
Time and Date: 31st October from 1900
Place: Oji Hall (Ginza)
