Based on the novel of the same name by female author Susan Hill, the play became an instant hit when it first opened at London’s Fortune Theatre in 1989. Since then, it has been performed in more than 40 countries around the world. Although its run at the Fortune Theatre, which lasted for 34 years, came to an end in March last year, it is still a masterpiece of British horror drama that is still performed all over the world.
