Nogami Toyoichiro (1883-1950) was a student of Natsume Soseki at First Higher School and the University of Tokyo. He married Yaeko when they were both students, and Yaeko was also taught by Soseki. Toyoichiro is now known as a Noh researcher. He gave a lecture on Zeami at Cambridge University in 1938 and contributed to the introduction of Noh culture to the world.
