Junior Group Online Lecture History of the English Landscape Garden

The Junior group will hold a lecture (in Japanese) via Zoom in September by JBS member Mr. Ryosuke Kondo on the English landscape garden.

The English landscape garden originated in the18th century, and England has since been regarded as the world’s leading gardening nation. Focusing on landscape gardening, as distinct from horticulture, this lecture will survey the history of the English landscape garden.

Ryosuke Kondo is a Research Associate at the University of Tokyo and an Adjunct Lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts. Specializing in Aesthetics and History of Landscape, he obtained his B.A. from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, and his M.A. from The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, The University of Tokyo. From 2014 to 2016, he was a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Research Fellow, and from 2016 to 2017a Fulbright visiting researcher at Harvard Graduate School of Design.
