The Society is honoured that HIH Princess Akiko of Mikasa has accepted an invitation to give a lecture entitled “Looking for Treasures at the British Museum”. The lecture will be in Japanese.

HIH Princess Akiko of Mikasa is the first daughter of the late Prince Tomohito of Mikasa. After graduating from Gakushuin University, she studied at Merton College, University of Oxford, where she carried out research on Japanese art abroad. In 2010, she earned a DPhil, which was the first case among female members of the Imperial Family. She established “Shinyusha” and became Patron, where children study Japanese culture. Among other posts she holds, she is now a Distinguished Professor at the Institute of Japanese Culture, Kyoto Sangyo University, a Guest Professor at Kyoto City University of Arts, a Guest Research Fellow at the Archival Research Center, Kyoto City University of Arts, a Guest Professor at Kokugakuin University, a Guest Professor at Humanities Research Institute of Kokushikan University Graduate School, a Distinguished Professor at Chiba Institute of Technology, and a Chief Researcher at Institute for Geo-Cosmology, Chiba Institute of Technology.
