At Kyu- Furukawa Gardens you can enjoy a Western-style garden and building designed by Josiah Conder, as well as a Japanese garden created by a famous gardener, Jihei Ogawa VII. Mr. Ryosuke Kondo (JBS member) will give us a talk about Kyu-Furukawa residence and gardens. After the lecture, participants will actually visit the gardens (about 5 minutes’ walk from the venue) and be given an explanation by Mr Kondo. (language: Japanese)
Ryosuke Kondo Born in Osaka in 1982, Ryosuke Kondo holds a B.A. from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, University of London, and an M.A. from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo. After serving as a Fulbright visiting researcher at Harvard Graduate School of Design and an assistant professor at the University of Tokyo, he is currently an adjunct lecturer at Graduate School of Global Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. He specializes in the aesthetics and history of landscape.
