This year is the year of horse and we have arranged a lecture by Mr Masao Yamamoto (JBS member), recipient of the JRA Equestrian Culture Award for his book Derby kyo no Igirisu.
The sport of racing horses has existed all over the world since ancient times, and is still held today in the form of grass races. Meanwhile, highly sophisticated horse racing competitions are also held in various countries, the first of which was in 18th century Britain, which is known as the “birthplace of modern horse racing”. Mr Yamamoto will discuss the horse racing in the 18th century Britain and the impact it had on other parts of the world. The lecture is in Japanese.
