Beat the heat the traditional way by listening to chilling ghost stories! This special one-man presentation by Stuart Varnam-Atkin will feature classic stories by Lafcadio Hearn (aka Koizumi Yakumo) in their original English. The venue will be the historic Shitaya Shrine near Inaricho Station, the birthplace of professional rakugo storytelling. ＊Air conditioned with chairs at the venue.

Born in Birmingham, England, Oxford University graduate, long-term resident. Prolific writer (Shakespeare & Tale of Genji adaptations), actor, narrator (NHK World TV, The Tokyo Trial), Visiting Professor at Open University of Japan, TV presenter (NHK Trad Japan, OUJ Walking with Writers), and for 25 years a guest English commentator on NHK’s O-zumo.
