The Burrell Collection: A voyage to impressionism Vision of a great shipowner-collector

William Burrell was a shipping magnate from Glasgow, which flourished as the UK’s foremost seaport during the industrial revolution. He gathered a collection of works of art spanning ages, borders and genres, and gifted it to the City of Glasgow in 1944.
